Worship Listening Station from last weekend

Hey everyone,

Karl here. Much thanks to Kevin for putting up this awesome blog. Anyway, I set up a Listening Station (read those words loosely….you’ll understand when you actually see the ‘Listening Station’) for the worship music. Go to:

http://www.getlife.tv/media/music/worship

The mp3’s are in folders there for different dates. Just open the folder of the weekend you want to listen to, and then you can either listen online or right click the mp3, and then click ’save target as’ to save the mp3’s to your computer.

Usually I break each song up into its own mp3, but this week the first 3 songs flowed so much, that I just left it as one big mp3.

Thanks again, everyone, for being an incredible team. Seriously.

Sweetness.
Karl.

Today at Church

I’d like to show you around! SoundInLife is all about the experience in ministry here at the Church and from time to time, I’d like to post up some real time updates on what’s going on here during service. We have a full team of people here that show up pretty much every weekend to make Church happen… all four services. From my past experiences at Church, I can certainly say that I have never seen such a dedicated staff, especially in such a high tech church.

Countdown song blues…

Pastor Alex, the assistant to the Pastor, secondary pastor, something like that, started doing a cool little countdown video to the start of Church. This is a very good idea to sort of get everyone in the right state of mind for worship to start. Pastor Alex also picked out a great song to go with it by the David Crowder Band… however, we’ve been starting off each service this way for about 6 months now and us sound and tech teams are… well, to be frank, getting a little tired of it.

Calling all tech, worship, and Life staff!

I’d really like to kick this blog off as a one stop shop for Life Church staff on the tech team, sound team, worship team, and ministry staff to use this site for a main resource in sharing the experience each weekend at Life Church. Seems like we all have a ton of different blogs all over the place, but this is really one that can be “branded” as an official site of Life Church. So, that being said, I’d like to offer an account to anyone who would like to be a regular poster here on this blog. That means you Chris, John, Rachel, Karl, Alex, etc. So, leave a comment here and I will set you up with an account if you want. Hopefully this morning my isight on my Macbook will work so I can post the first video blog on here too so I can explain a little more about what I want to do with this site. Thanks guys! Life Church Rocks!

Also! If you have a blog… I’d like to link to it. So send me the links!

Seven Steps to Great Sound in Worship Service

I saw this article and though it would be good to post here.

Producing great sound in a worship service can seem as elusive as finding a soloist who always sings on key. However, it need not be. Many factors influence the quality of sound: room acoustics, sound-system design and performance, operator experience, and quality of musical performance. Here are some practical tips on how to tie all of that together to get the best sound.

The ultimate Home Theater

For those of you that love sound and theater… like myself… you’ll enjoy reading this post. I have had the pleasure of visiting the Pioneer KURO loft in LA this week; a place with over 40k worth of home theater and plasma screens… at the door way I already had to wipe the drool off my face. Anyways, I said I would post cool stuff about sound and such, so here is the first post. I know it’s not church related, but it’s way too cool to pass up.

Some Photos …

This is just a few photos of our worship team. It was taken back on Easter weekend… I know it’s kinda old, but hey, I need to fill this thing out with content!

Welcome to the Life Church Official Worship Blog

This is the very first post on the brand spankn’ new Life Church Worship blog. It’s called SoundInLife. It will be a place for the Life Church worship team, worship ministries, and tech team to converse and share the experience of serving God in Life Church. I am your humble host, Kevin McIntosh. I suppose my official title at Life Church is the Minister of Sound… or something like that. Basically, it’s a big fancy name for “the guy that runs the sound board in the back of the church that everyone blames for musical and sound mishaps”. Anyways, I’m pleased to announce this website and I hope it becomes a gathering place to share, learn, and fellowship. Leave a comment. Add a bookmark. Check back anytime. I’ll try to keep the blog rolling with fresh new content about music, sound, equipment, fun things at church, etc. I’m also going to attempt to record a video after each Sunday so that I can document the worship experience at Life Church, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Thanks again for stopping by.

This is me... like it or not!
